3. Purposes and Legal Basis of Data Processing
Your personal data will be processed solely for the purpose of conducting the three-stage application and selection process for the Solitude Fellowship (§ 3 of the Guidelines for selection process).
This includes:
– Verification of formal requirements (§ 2)
– Conducting an anonymous random selection procedure if necessary (§ 4)
– Communication within the selection process
– Selection decision by the jury (§ 3 para. 3)
– Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Categories of Processed Data
– Personal data (name, date of birth, nationality)
– Contact details (email address, phone number if applicable)
– Information on artistic/scientific practice
– Motivation letter, CV, work samples
– Technical data (e.g., IP address, submission timestamp)
5. Data recipients
Your data will only be shared within Akademie Schloss Solitude and with members of the independent jury. No data will be shared with third parties unless legally required.
6. Data Retention Period
Your data will be stored for the duration of the selection process and deleted thereafter unless legal retention obligations apply. This does not apply to your master data (name, address, contact details). These will be retained until revoked. Application documents of non-selected applicants will be deleted no later than 6 months after the process ends.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
– Access to your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR)
– Rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR)
– Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
– Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
– Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
– Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
– Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)
8. Obligation to Provide Data
Providing your data is necessary to participate in the application process. Without this data, an application is not possible.
9. Right to Lodge a Complaint with the Supervisory Authority
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
