Solitude Fellowship
About the Solitude Fellowship
Every two years, the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart awards between 50 and 60 residential fellowships to international artists, scholars, and cultural professionals from all disciplines. The Solitude Fellowship provides space for focused work, interdisciplinary exchange, and international networking – and sees itself as a contribution to an open, diverse, and globally connected cultural landscape. It is open-ended in terms of results and also offers the opportunity for on-site events, including in cooperation with other cultural institutions in Stuttgart and the surrounding region.
The Solitude Fellowship is aimed at individuals with two to ten years of independent practice following their formal education or training, who wish to deepen their professional development and take the next step toward international and interdisciplinary networking.
A two-stage application process
For the first time in 2025, and due to the overwhelming number of applications we received during the last application round, we are introducing a two-stage application process. In the first stage – the Short Application – applicants fill out an online form with information about their personal details, sphere of practice, and motivation. After this first stage is completed, we will conduct an anonymous random selection procedure in spheres with very high numbers of applications to ensure a fair pre-selection.
All applicants who are admitted to the second stage can submit a full application on the application platform within a given deadline (please also see the »Guidelines for the Selection Procedure of the Solitude Fellowship« here.
Please find all general information about the Solitude fellowship here.
