What do I need to submit?

How should I fill in the Online Application?

Concerning the section »Questionnaire«

Academic and/or professional background in tabular form
Please add details concerning your academic and/or professional education, eg. information about Bachelor and/or Master degrees, PhDs, trainee courses or eg. if you are a self-trained artist.

Previous works dated by year
For artists: Competitions, realized projects, publications with title and publisher, unpublished works, solo and group exhibitions, list of works (selection), works in collections (selection), major performances (where and when).

For scholars/scientists: Publications by title and publisher, unpublished works, list of publications (selection), research results, completed projects.

Prizes and fellowships/grants dated by year
If you have already won prizes or have been awarded other fellowships, please list them here. And don’t worry if you haven’t any.

Current projects
Please describe which work/project/research you intend to work on during the fellowship. Please also note that you don’t have to hand in a project proposal and that the Akademie does not require any outcome of the fellowship. The description is rather important for the jurors to get to know your current focus of interest.

Goals
Please explain what you would like to achieve during the fellowship.

Concerning the section »References & Contacts«

Indicate the names of two references/persons from within your artistic discipline or your scientific discipline or your professional field
Here you are asked to fill in the names of two persons who are familiar with your artistic or scientific work, eg. former professors, mentors, colleagues etc. who can provide information about it if necessary.

Contacts in Stuttgart, if any
If you already have friends, colleagues, co-workers or any other contacts in Stuttgart, you are welcome to name them here. Only the names and discipline, no addresses. You don’t have to fill in this field and don’t worry if you cannot name anybody.

How/From whom did you hear about the Solitude fellowship?
We would love to get to know how you heard about the fellowship and application round. Eg. through friends, former or current fellows, online platforms, our website, the Goethe-Institute, etc.

Concerning the section »Knowledge of foreign languages«

As the Akademie is an international place it is important that you understand and speak either English, German or French. If you speak any additional language it would be great if you could let us know.

Longer stays abroad (min. of three months)
If you have already stayed outside your own country for more than three months it would be great if you could let us know when and where that was.
You don’t have to fill in that field and don’t worry if you haven’t been abroad for longer.

Concerning the field »Remarks«

Here you can indicate anything that might be important for us to know, eg. that you cannot be away from home for more than six months or that you need a special working surrounding/equipment etc.
