Yes, you can only apply for ONE Sphere of Practice. If we realise that your work might fit better into another sphere, we will make sure that jurors from both spheres will be able to see your application.

Yes, it is possible to apply as a group. In this case, please choose »group profile« in the section »Profile data« and follow the instructions. Each member has to be listed with personal data but we need only one contact information. Please choose ONE sphere of practice  and upload ONE PDF with work samples valid for the whole group.

You cannot apply as a group and as an individual at the same time.

No, while being enrolled in a Bachelor or Master study program at the time of your application you are not eligible for a fellowship, even if your studies are finished by the time the fellowship program starts.
PhD candidates who are enrolled in a PhD program can apply.

Yes, you can logout and login to work on your application during the application period.
But please make sure to finish the process until November 30, 2021 (23:59 PST)! We recommend to finish the application not in the very last moment as we will then not be able anymore to answer possible questions.

If you have filled in the questionnaire, uploaded the pdf, selected the sphere of practice you would like to apply for, and paid the application fee (in case you come from an industrial country) your application should be complete.
The system will tell you otherwise what you have missed out!

No, you do not have to send recommendation letters/testimonials. It is sufficient to name two persons who are familiar with your work and can provide information about it if necessary.

All applicants from industrial countries.
Applicants from industrial countries are those living, working or on fellowships in developed countries during the application round. The applicant’s nationality is irrelevant. Please check the list of countries.

The payment has to be done without request either via PayPal, Credit card or (in some European countries) Bank Transfer (Sofortüberweisung) here on this page through Payrexx.

You will not receive an invoice.
The deadline for your payment is November 30, 2021 (23:59 PST)!

If you use PayPal, for most countries besides Germany, you will need a valid credit card and in any case the e-mail address of Akademie Schloss Solitude: apply@akademie-solitude.de. Please use the Payrexx link on this site as it will automatically indicate every necessary information.

Possible transaction fees will be at the expense of the applicant.

Go to »View Application«. You will find your application status and a link to the online payment system provided by Payrexx.
Continue by choosing the payment method. Please keep in mind that the payment deadline is November 30,2021 (23:59 PST)!

No interviews will be held during the application process.

In case you are allowed to hand in a postal application, please note that the following applies to international mailings:
if a customs value is required, this should be as low as possible (€ 10–€ 20). The Akademie is unable to cover any additional international customs clearance duties and will be forced to refuse acceptance of the delivery.
Postal applications will not be returned.

The results of the jury meeting will be announced from May 2022 at the earliest. Letters of refusal will be sent between May and June 2022.

The earliest possible start date for fellowships awarded is Fall 2022. As not all selected fellows can be hosted at the same time, further start dates will follow in Winter 2022, Spring 2023, Fall 2023 and so on.

The studios are equipped for use by one individual only. However, we do try to accommodate families/spouses if possible. Please note that it is not always possible in the case of families/spouses from abroad, because the entry and residence regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany must be observed and followed.
